U18 report: Owls 0-1 Forest

3 October 2020

The Owls Under-18s suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest in their first home game of the campaign.

The Wednesday youngsters never really got into their stride in the 3.30pm kick-off at Middlewood Road and were left to rue a late penalty miss 15 minutes from time when the visitors struck the only goal of the game on 82 minutes.

Forest made a good start in S6 and were unfortunate not to lead midway through the first half when the crossbar came to the Owls’ rescue from a fierce Forest strike.

Owls forward Leojo Davidson tested the Reds’ goalkeeper just before the break but it was well saved as the sides went in at the break level.

The big moment of the game, from a Wednesday perspective, came in the 75th minute when Luke Hall was awarded a spot kick after being brought down in the box.

Hall stepped up to take the penalty but the Forest shot-stopper correctly guessed his intention and dived to the right to make a key save.

And Wednesday were made to pay soon after as Forest substitute Jack Perkins collected the ball from a cross into the box and slotted low into the bottom corner.

The Under-18s are next in action a week on Saturday away at Charlton.

SWFC U18s: Hare, Curtis, Sesay, Glover, Glaves, Yates, Zottos (Hall 46), Ahsfa (Cadamarteri 85), Bonnington, Trueman, Davidson (Trialist 75)
