The first of many!

16 September 2020

Elias Kachunga is hoping his maiden Wednesday strike will set the tone for the future.

The DR Congo international notched against Rochdale in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday as the Owls posted a comfortable 2-0 win over the Pennines.

And Kachunga paid tribute to both the quality of the cross from Liam Palmer and impact of the new coaching staff in S6 who were influential in the move.

He said: “It was a brilliant cross from Liam. We did it in training before the game, we were told to get the ball into the box early. So I didn't really have to do much.

"It is always good to score your first goal for a new club and always good for a striker to score straight away.

“Hopefully it gives me confidence for the next games and it is one of many goals. The goals tonight, they have not come from nowhere. They have come from training and if we can keep on performing like this it's perfect.

“The coaching staff have so far done a brilliant job. We are working a lot in all the departments like the strikers, defenders and midfield players. I think this is helping us on the pitch a lot.”
