An early burst from Hull that spawned three goals ultimately sealed victory as the Owls Under-18s went down 3-1 on Humberside.
The hosts were 3-0 up inside 19 minutes, giving Wednesday a nightmare start from which they failed to recover.
The first strike came seven minutes in from the penalty spot. Corey Glaves was adjudged to have tripped Louis Beckett and Olly Green made no mistake from 12 yards.
The second swiftly followed, just four minutes later. Hull launched a rapid counter attack that ended with Harvey Carew applying the finishing touch past Alex Hare a yard inside the area.
And it went from bad to worse on 19 minutes for Wednesday as the hosts made it 3-0. Beckett found space on the edge of the box and looked up to pick his spot with a fierce strike on the half volley.
The bewildered Owls regrouped and half time came and went with neither goalkeeper truly troubled.
Wednesday were much improved throughout the second half and went on to create chances, with Basile Zottos going close on the hour.
Still they rallied and finally got on the scoresheet with a minute to go when Will Trueman slalomed a route into the box and laid off for Filimon Ahsfa to drill in a late consolation.
