Match preview - Owls v Bristol City

The Owls welcome Bristol City to Hillsborough on Saturday for the second of three successive home fixtures.

Manager Darren Moore will be absent on a period of leave related to his contraction of COVID-19 and everyone at the club wishes the gaffer a speedy and full recovery.

Assistant manager Jamie Smith will take the team against the Robins, who are managed by former Owls defender Nigel Pearson. 

Wednesday coach Paul Williams is back to assist Smith following his period of COVID-19 isolation.

MINUTE'S SILENCE

The game will be preceded by a minute's silence on the day of the funeral of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The players, coaching staff and match officials will wear black armbands as a mark of respect.

The Megastore reopened on Monday in line with the Government’s road to recovery but remains closed on matchday. Our Meadowhall store also opened its doors this week and will follow the shopping mall’s regular hours.

TEAM NEWS

Owls: Wednesday have no fresh injury concerns following the midweek reverse to Swansea.

Joost van Aken and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru are training with the squad as they step up their returns from injury.

Chey Dunkley (hamstring) is back at Middlewood Road but Saturday could come too soon for the defender, while Moses Odubajo (hamstring), Massimo Luongo (knee), Dominic Iorfa (Achilles) and Cameron Dawson (knee) remain sidelined.

Bristol City: Antoine Semenyo has been training throughout the week following a recent injury and could feature on Saturday. New recruit Danny Simpson is likely to miss out.

Nathan Baker and Chris Martin are back on the grass said Pearson in his pre-match press conference, while Cam Pring is expected to return to training next week.
