The Owls Under-18s picked up their second victory of the season on Saturday with a 2-0 triumph over Queens Park Rangers.
It was the perfect response from our academy youngsters after going down 4-0 at Colchester last weekend.
That’s now two wins from three to begin the 2021/22 campaign and it was the dangerous duo of Bailey Cadamarteri and Leojo Davidson with the goals to earn us maximum points.
Playing in the Middlewood Road sunshine on Saturday morning, the deadlock was broken after just two minutes.
Murtadha Al-Jahadhmy drove forward from the left flank before feeding the ball into Cadamarteri, who spun inside the box to lose his marker before applying a low, unstoppable finish into the far corner.
Wednesday remained in the ascendancy but had to wait until the 75th minute to add a second.
But, it was well worth the wait as Davidson doubled our advantage with a wonderful solo goal - effortlessly gliding past two challenges having received possession in his own half from Filimon Asfha, before calmly slotting past R’s goalkeeper Matteo Salamon.
The Owls youngsters will be looking to continue their positive start to the season next Saturday when they visit Millwall (10.30am).
