18s face Saints in FA Youth Cup

9 December 2021

The Owls Under-18s face Southampton this evening in the third round of the FA Youth Cup.

The game will take place at St Mary’s and kick off at 7.00pm.

So far in the competition, Wednesday have overcome Burton (3-0) and Aylestone Park (2-1) on the road in rounds one and two.

Under-18 manager Andy Holdsworth said: “The lads are buzzing for the game, it’s going to be a really difficult task and we know that but, it’s the FA Youth Cup. We all know what this competition is about.

“They are a Premier League club and a Category One academy, so it will be completely different from Aylestone in the last round.

“The biggest thing for me is seeing how the boys go out there and handle the occasion.

"These opportunities don’t come around often and I want to see them give it a really good go.

“The last thing you want to do is come away thinking, ‘could I have done more.’ So that’s what it’s about for me tonight, to see the boys give absolutely everything they can.”

The Under-18s will be without talisman Leojo Davidson, who is suspended following his dismissal in our league defeat at Coventry last time out.
