Thompson provides team news update

11 February 2021

Neil Thompson has confirmed that Moses Odubajo is set for an extended period on the sidelines.

The right back, who has made 22 appearances for the Owls this season, pulled up with a hamstring injury in training late last month.

Following a full assessment, the 27-year-old will require a longer recovery period, as Thompson explained:

“With Moses, it’s quite a serious hamstring tear and in terms of putting a date on it, I can't really do that. It wasn't a straightforward one."

Joost van Aken has endured more bad luck on his return to fitness after picking up an ankle injury while playing for our Under-23s.

Meanwhile, Jack Marriott is back in training and available for selection.

Thompson added: “Jack came back into training yesterday and I don't envisage any issues with him.

“He's a fit lad and his attitude has been bang on since he came back.

“He's in competition with all the strikers. They have to be together as a group but they are fighting for their places.

“You never know when you are needed. Look at Elias Kachunga and Jordan Rhodes.

“With Joost, unfortunately he turned his ankle in an Under-23s game. That's not one where he'll be fit in the next few weeks.”
