We owe ourselves, says Thompson

8 February 2021

Neil Thompson believes the players have picked themselves up and dusted themselves down ahead of Tuesday’s crunch clash with Wycombe at Hillsborough.

With the battle in the basement hotting up, the Chairboys contest could be declared the proverbial six-pointer and Thompson has stressed the importance of a swift return to winning ways after Saturday’s defeat at Millwall.

He said: “This will be a tough game, make no mistake about that. Wycombe are fighting for their lives and so are we.

“There are two teams desperate for the points. We have moved on from Millwall, that’s gone now, and we are now focussed completely on Wycombe.

“I have always said the most important game is the next one and nothing changes, this is the Championship and there are all kinds of challenges.

“We dominated the game at Wycombe down there with something like 30/35 crosses but the ball just wouldn’t go in. Do we owe them one? No, we owe ourselves.”

Wednesday v Wycombe is available now HERE to stream live via the Owls’ iFollow service with Rob O’Neill and John Pearson behind the mics.

This game will not be shown on the Red Button.
