With the relentless nature of the Championship hitting home, Neil Thompson’s focus is fixed firmly on the next game.
Wednesday face a two-match week for essentially the remainder of the season and cleared a huge hurdle with back to back wins over Preston on Saturday and Bournemouth tonight.
Attention now turns to Millwall at the weekend and Thompson said: “The next game is the most important one, it has to be that way.
“This division and this schedule is relentless but I think you saw tonight the lads have put an absolute shift in, they have given everything.
“I keep saying work rate is free and when you put the work in you get the results out.
“I thought we just about edged that game tonight. We could have been out of sight in the first half, then we conceded a penalty, but we’ve come right back into it to get the winner.
“It’s a fantastic cross from Kadeem and Jordan is there to finish it off.
“I’m delighted for all of them, they are working their socks off and they deserve the credit.
“Two wins on the bounce does a lot and now we will head back up the M1, rest up, recover, and prepare for another long trip to Millwall on Saturday.”
