I liked what I saw

10 July 2021

Darren Moore was pleased with the performance of both his sides as the Owls cruised to a 2-0 win at Chester.

Moore switched all outfield players at the interval after a dominant first half display but it was only more of the same after the break for the overrun hosts.

Wednesday were in control from start to finish and the manager left Cheshire with plenty of boxes ticked.

He told swfc.co.uk: “I liked what I saw today in both halves, we moved the ball well and it was a very accomplished performance.

“We’ve been working them really hard in training and we saw the benefits of that this afternoon. The base fitness is getting stronger, we were better with the ball and it left a lot of boxes ticked for me.”

Moore opened up on new recruit Dennis Adeniran, who became our first senior signing of the summer on Saturday morning.

The former Everton youngster stepped straight onto the pitch at the Deva Stadium and impressed during his 45 minutes of action.

Moore said: “I just told Dennis I thought he did really well, he was blowing a bit towards the end but needs that game time.

“He’s a fit lad but match fit is completely different. He will benefit from the training schedules we have ahead, he will get stronger.

“We have another game on Tuesday, we have some double sessions, we need all the players to be at the highest level possible.”
