Young duo sign professional Owls deals

1 July 2021

The Owls have added two more signings to the Middlewood Road ranks as David Agbontohoma and Leojo Davidson put pen to paper on professional contracts.

Agbontohoma is a cultured centre back who kicked off his career as a youngster with Arsenal before spending the last three seasons at Southampton.

The 19-year-old featured for the Owls Under-23s on a trial basis last season and now completes a permanent move to S6.

Davidson initially joined Wednesday in July 2020 on a scholarship from Manchester City.

The attack-minded right back, 17, impressed during his time with Wednesday and earns a maiden professional deal.

Academy manager Steven Haslam told swfc.co.uk: “David has an excellent pedigree with the Arsenal academy and then having played with the Under-23s at Southampton.

“We invited him for a trial period at the back end of last year and he did really well.

“With Leojo, he grew up in Sheffield before joining Manchester City and knows the area well.

“We signed him on a scholarship, he has been really impressive. Leojo is an attacking right back with strong attributes and again has a good pedigree.

“We’re really pleased with both lads and they are looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
