Moore welcomes Basso

25 June 2021

Darren Moore has told swfc.co.uk he is looking forward to working with Adriano Basso after our new first team goalkeeper coach was unveiled on Friday afternoon.

The former Brazilian shot-stopper was present as the players arrived back at Middlewood Road for pre-season testing, and Moore is pleased with the addition to his coaching staff.

He said: “I’m really pleased to have Adriano on board. He brings experience and understands the game really well.

“He’s really good with the small details and studies individuals very well. He’ll be looking at the goalkeepers in fine detail and improving their games.

“He’s a wonderful human being, a very respectful man. He has a real work ethic and the boys will see that on a day to day basis.

“He’s a really positive addition to our staff and I want to welcome him to the football club and look forward to working alongside him.”

Nicky Weaver will now lead the academy goalkeeping department and Moore insists the former Owls custodian will continue to have a key input at every level.

The Wednesday boss added: “I want to thank Nicky for helping us, he’s very much still part of things and I will be seeing him on a day to day basis.

“He’s with the academy, but we’re all part of the same training camp.

“Nicky and Adriano will work closely together, in the same way the academy and the first team will work together as a whole.”
