Out of luck but Moore stays upbeat

17 March 2021

Darren Moore bemoaned his side’s ill fortune after the Owls drew 1-1 against Huddersfield at Hillsborough.

Josh Windass put Wednesday en route to a much-needed win only for a Callum Paterson own goal to deny Moore a maiden win.

He said: “It was a bizarre way to concede but all you can do is deal with it and move forward, we can’t dwell on anything as we have another game against Barnsley on Saturday.

“We got one point but wanted all three. We’ve stopped that run of defeats so that’s a positive and we have to look forward, it’s the only way.

“It’s small margins tonight and small margins make the difference.”

Wednesday’s luck was out on more than the own goal front as Huddersfield survived a penalty scare at 1-0 when Richard Keogh appeared to trip Jordan Rhodes.

Moore added: “I haven’t seen it back yet so I couldn’t comment but I’m told it was a stonewall penalty.

“That’s the way it goes sometimes. The players are disappointed in the dressing room because it’s not gone the way we wanted.

“We lost Sam Hutchinson to an injury and it was a big loss because Sam is a solid citizen back there, he’s an organiser and we missed that.”
