It will be a magnificent moment

20 May 2021

Owls manager Darren Moore is counting down the days until he gets to sample the supporters in full voice and backing the team at Hillsborough.

The Wednesday boss has been at the club since early March but of course, all games have been played in a behind closed doors setting due to COVID-19 restrictions.

But on that front, there is light at the end of the tunnel as we have seen during this past week with fans back inside football stadiums across the Premier League and play-off fixtures.

Moore now has all focus on building towards 2021/22 and part of his thinking ahead of the new season is the role of the supporters, should all go to plan with the lifting of restrictions.

“As we’ve seen, there are a lot of teams now in the play-offs with fans back and the noise is just incredible,” he told swfc.co.uk in an exclusive interview.

“When I think of Hillsborough and the potential of having that in the next few months, it really does lift the hairs on my skin, in terms of that passion and support we are going to have and I’m really looking forward to it.

“I can’t wait for that first game of the season to come and, to hear Hillsborough in full voice will be a magnificent moment and a special occasion for myself.

“To have the fans come back in with their energy, they’ve been starved of football for how many months now, so to have their energy is something we are looking forward to.

“We have a few more months yet but we are looking forward to seeing them all.”
