18s and 23s update as young Owls post mixed results

25 November 2021

Both the Owls Under-18s and Under-23s have featured in league action this week with the two squads posting mixed results.

First up, the 18s suffered only their second defeat of the campaign on Tuesday morning away at Coventry.

It’s been a busy schedule for our high-flying Under-18s after advancing in the FA Youth Cup last Wednesday and then defeating Barnsley in a top of the table clash at the weekend.

The quick turnaround of games saw the Owls youngsters back on their travels just three days later to face Coventry in what was perhaps a game too far for the 18s.

A first half red card issued to Leojo Davidson for a late challenge increased the difficulty of the task as the Sky Blues ran out comfortable 4-0 winners.

Owls 18s: Charles, Fusire, Sesay, Ashman, Phuthi, Asfha, Kilheeney (Wassell 71), Maltby, Davidson (S/0 37), Al-Jahadhmy (Flannery 46), Cadamarteri (Sterling-Rhule 57)

Our Under-23s, though, posted their second win of the season on the road at Crewe on Wednesday.

Alex Bonnington and Korede Adedoyin were on target for the Owls as Lee Bullen’s side were back to winning ways for the first time since our 5-1 win over Peterborough in mid-October.

Next-up for the 23s is a clash against Hull City at the Eco-Power Stadium on Friday 3 December.

Owls 23s: Render, Trialist (Trialist 46), Agbontohoma, Thompson, Zottos, Waldock, Glover, Farmer (Sesay 84), Trueman, Bonnington (Trialist 64), Adedoyin
