A wonderful project

20 October 2021

Darren Moore described working with Fisayo Dele-Bashiru as a ‘wonderful project’ following a strong performance from the young midfielder against Cambridge on Tuesday night.

The Manchester City academy product bagged his first professional goal against the U’s and the gaffer believes his strike will be a big boost for himself and the team.

Moore said: “That goal will do him the world of good, he took his chance and brought us back into the game.

“Over the last couple of games, he’s shown a wonderful maturity to his game. When he gets the ball at his feet, he makes things happen.

“He’s had to be patient and wait his chance. We’ve been working with him at the training ground in terms of making sure he keeps his discipline off the ball, and he’s shown signs of that."

Moore explained how he’s enjoyed coaching the 20-year-old at Middlewood Road, seeing Dele-Bashiru as a big prospect for the Owls.

He added: “He’s learning all the time, he’s young and developing.

“He’s someone me and my staff look at and know we can get our teeth stuck into him, he’s a wonderful project for us.

“He’s got bags of potential and it’s up to us to nurture him in the right way and make him into an asset for the football club.”
