Here are the key talking points from Darren Moore's pre-Oxford press conference.
ON JOSE SEMEDO
It is really devastating news. I don’t know Jose on a personal level but I can say now as manager of Sheffield Wednesday our sincere condolences go to Jose and his extended family. I speak on behalf of everyone at Sheffield Wednesday and I am certain all our supporters that we as a football club are with him and his family and our thoughts and prayers are with them all.
We’ve had a good training session today and no one has reported any problems so we’re in good shape for the game tomorrow. We want to get everyone fit, there are still one or two on the treatment table and when we have games thick and fast so to have the volume back in the squad in terms of numbers is really pleasing. The key is keeping them all fit and raring to go. I want the selection headaches as a manager, especially when we have all the games that we do.
This will be a completely different game to the game at Wigan. Oxford have a manager in Karl Robinson that sets his teams up really well and a manager with longevity at the club. They have been in the play-offs two years consecutively and there’s a clear DNA and certain style of play. So we are facing strong opposition that myself and the team are looking forward to facing in front of our own support.
ON A SQUAD GAME
We are still learning about the players as individuals and still learning as a group. The problem I have is that they all want to play! It’s a great position to be in because football is a squad game and this group of players are desperate to play. There is competition for places, everybody wants a shirt and everybody wants to play to their full potential, that’s the way it should be.
