Waldock extends Trinity loan spell

5 October 2021

Owls midfielder Liam Waldock has extended his loan spell with Gainsborough Trinity.

The 21-year-old joined Gainsborough on a one-month loan deal in September.

Waldock will now stay with the Northern Premier League side until Monday 1 November.

The Owls academy product is enjoying a positive loan stint with Trinity and has made six starts so far which have led to three wins, two draws and just one defeat.

Trinity have been in good form of late and have risen to 12th in the Pitching In Northern Premier League.

On Waldock earlier this season, manager Darren Moore said: “I am really pleased for Liam. He is a good young midfield player with bags of energy. We feel that he is rapidly coming on.

“I didn’t want him to stay in the building and be down in the pecking order before he gets a run of games. I think the rightful thing with Liam was to let him go out on loan and let him keep that continuity of men’s football on a weekly basis.

“It will bring a lot more strengths to his game and ask questions of his decision-making on and off the ball which is what he needs for that next stage.

“I said to him with where he is now in his career that Under-23s football has passed him. He needs to be stepping on to the front line so the loan is a wonderful opportunity for him and we will be keeping close tabs on him.”
