Owls keeper on World Cup trail

2 September 2021

Bailey Peacock-Farrell is in contention to start between the sticks for Northern Ireland on Thursday evening as his nation travel to face Lithuania in the World Cup 2022 qualifiers.

The Owls shot-stopper has featured in Ireland’s last three fixtures and will be looking to take the gloves once more against Lithuania.

Ian Baraclough’s side currently sit mid-table in Group C, with one point from their first two outings.

Ireland stay out of base on Sunday to play Estonia in a friendly before resuming World Cup qualifying duty with a home tie against Switzerland next Wednesday.

Domestically, Peacock-Farrell is enjoying a fine start to his season-long loan with the Owls, conceding just one goal in six games so far.

The 24-year-old has posted a string of impressive performances, most notably at local rivals Rotherham, where he capped a fine display with an outstanding penalty save as the Owls triumphed 2-0.
