Leave everything on the pitch

29 April 2022

“Big days, big crowds, everything on the line. This will be a first for some of the boys so they will witness first-hand Hillsborough at its best.”

So says Owls skipper Barry Bannan ahead of our crunch clash with Portsmouth in S6 on Saturday (12:30pm).

The formula for Wednesday is simple – a win will guarantee play-off contention. And Bannan insists that he and his team mates must give their absolute all as the quest for promotion reaches its climax.

He continued: “I want to make sure I will come off the pitch with no regrets, knowing I couldn’t have done any more, and it’s the same for the rest of the boys in the changing room.

“The aim has been to keep it in our hands and that’s what we have managed.

“Performances have been strong although one or two results haven’t always gone our way.

“Portsmouth are a very good team, we held on with 10 men down at their place. We weren’t at full strength but we’re a different animal now and we have to show our strengths to win this crucial game.”
