A thoroughly professional performance

10 August 2022

Darren Moore toasted a productive week in the league and cup following Wednesday night’s 2-0 victory over Sunderland.

His much-changed team overcame the Black Cats to earn a second round tie at home against Rochdale, building nicely on last weekend’s League One win at MK Dons.

Owls boss Moore was pleased with his side’s dominant display against Sunderland and in particular that of man of the match Dennis Adeniran.

He said: “It was a thoroughly professional performance and I’m really pleased. This was a good test for us and we came through it well.

“The players who came in did themselves no harm at all. We got two goals, we’re through to the next round, we got the clean sheet so a good night’s work.

“I’m really pleased for Dennis. That will have done him the world of good, he’s got himself a quality goal and the assist for Sylla Sow was expertly executed.

“Dennis had a lot of frustration in the latter part of last season and it’s great to have him back.”

Meanwhile, Moore explained that Lee Gregory was withdrawn just before half time as a precautionary measure.

He said: “Gregors just had a bit of tightness and so we took him off as a precaution. We’ll assess him tomorrow and see where we are from there.”
