Academy pre-season continues with two friendlies

1 August 2022

The Owls academy continued their warm-up for the new campaign on Friday as the squad was split into two groups for friendlies against Rochdale and Wolves.

A young Wednesday side made up largely of Under-17s faced Rochdale Under-18s at Thorncliffe and lost out by the odd goal in seven in an entertaining game.

The Owls came from 3-1 down to briefly restore parity before Dale grabbed a late winner in the final few moments.

Danai Rhule struck twice for the hosts, including one from the penalty spot, and Kamil Maciag was also on target, stabbing home to make it 3-3 on 70 minutes.

Meanwhile, an Owls squad made up of Under-19 players faced Wolves Under-18s at Queen Ethelburga college on the same day.

Goals from Leojo Davidson and Murtadha Al-Jahadhmy gave the Owls a solid 2-0 win.

U17s: Phillips, Weaver, Tapudzai, Dawes, Rodriguez, Johnson, Thornton, Fernandes, Bobea, Maciag (Hunt 46), Rhule (Weston 70)
