Famewo latest, Stockdale superb and fantastic fans

The Owls emerged triumphant 1-0 from MK Dons on Saturday, with Josh Windass’ penalty enough to take the points. Here are some key talking points from Darren Moore’s post-match press conference.

ON THE WIN

It’s great to win your first away game because it sets the tone. That’s what we did in the first half, I thought we started the game really well and it put MK on the back foot. We got the goal which we deserved and I am pleased for Josh because we all know what happened to his season last year. He’s played two games running, he’s building up to where he wants to be and to get the winning goal today was the icing on the cake for Josh.

ON AKIN FAMEWO

He started the game superbly but he’s picked up an injury and we can only wait to see what the outcome is. It seems to be a muscle injury and with that kind of thing the physios tend to ask to wait 48 hours or so because it’s difficult to make a diagnosis before that. Like I say, he did really well today and I see Akin as a project, someone I am really looking forward to working with. He’s a good size, athletic with a good left foot. We will keep everything crossed for him and we will know for sure on Monday.

ON DAVID STOCKDALE

Stocko has showed all his experience today and for the goalkeeper and the group, it’s three points, a win, and you can’t ask for more than that. He’s made some top-class saves today and some others went straight down his throat but that’s because his positioning is spot-on. The one where the lad Kemp went through and tried to guide one into the far post, Stocko has seen it and got a vital hand to it. He’s had a great afternoon and credit to him.

ON THE FANS

We’ve had over 6,000 Wednesday fans here today, it looked incredible. Milton Keynes certainly know when Sheffield Wednesday are in town. We’re delighted they are going home with smiles on their faces tonight.
