Wednesday have completed the signing of Mallik Wilks from Hull City for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old is the Owls’ 10th signing summer signing and bolsters Darren Moore’s attacking options as we approach the end of the transfer window.
Wilks began his career as a youth player with Leeds where he made his first team debut in the FA Cup in 2017.
The Yorkshireman enjoyed loan spells with Accrington Stanley, Grimsby Town and Doncaster Rovers before making a permanent switch to Barnsley in July 2019.
He later joined Hull, firstly on loan before sealing a permanent move, where he enjoyed his best spell to date.
Wilks was a key player in the Tigers’ 2020/21 League One campaign, scoring 23 goals as Hull lifted the title.
A versatile, pacey forward, Wilks can play on either wing or down the middle.
After playing for Hull in the first round of the Carabao Cup this season, our new addition is ineligible for Tuesday evening’s tie with Rochdale at Hillsborough but will be in contention for Saturday’s visit of Forest Green Rovers.
Wilks will wear squad number seven for the Owls.
