The Owls have signed Mark McGuinness from Championship side Cardiff City on a season-long loan deal.
The central defender links up with Wednesday ahead of this weekend’s trip to Bolton Wanderers and is eligible to feature at the University of Bolton Stadium, wearing squad number 34.
McGuinness joined the Bluebirds from Premier League giants Arsenal in 2021 after rising through the Gunners’ ranks.
The Slough product spent the 2020/21 season on loan with Ipswich Town and featured 25 times across all competitions at Portman Road, scoring one goal.
The towering defender has international experience with Ireland in the Under-19 and Under-21 age groups, representing the latter on 14 occasions.
McGuinness played 35 games for Cardiff last season in the second tier and now bolsters Darren Moore’s defensive options early in the current campaign.
Welcome to Wednesday, Mark!
