Our visitors overcame Burton Albion 2-0 on home soil.

In terms of the league, the two sides head into tonight’s tie in contrasting form.

Wednesday have made a strong start to their League One campaign and have 10 points from five games following the 2-0 win away at Bolton on Saturday.

Rochdale, though, have lost all five of their League Two fixtures and sit pointless at the bottom of the division – a run which saw the departure of manager Robbie Stockdale last week.

TEAM NEWS

Wednesday: The Owls could again freshen up the side once again as manager Darren Moore turns his attention to the cup.

Reece James remains suspended, while new recruit Mallik Wilks is cup-tied having featured for Hull against Bradford in round one.

Michael Smith remains on the comeback trail and is making good progress, while Akin Famewo is a longer-term absentee.

Rochdale: Dale will be without injured striker Luke Charman.

Midfielder Jimmy Keohane is likely to sit out his seventh consecutive game after suffering an ankle injury on the eve of the campaign.

Elsewhere, forward Tahvon Campbell continues his long road to recovery from a broken foot.

PENALTIES

Should the game finish level after 90 minutes, the tie will go straight to a penalty shootout.
