Wednesday are back at Hillsborough this weekend for our final game before Christmas!

After successive draws away from home against Derby and Exeter, the Owls return to S6 for a clash against Oxford.

It’s a coming together of two sides in resilient form.

Darren Moore’s side are on the league’s current longest unbeaten run – nine games. The U’s, meanwhile, are seven without defeat in the third tier.

Although down in 16th spot, our visitors this weekend have recovered well from a slow start and are now climbing the table nicely over recent weeks.

The Owls could go top of the table with a win, should results fall favourably elsewhere.

TEAM NEWS

Wednesday: Barry Bannan’s scan results have shed positive light on the skipper’s injury concerns from last week at Exeter.

Darren Moore is set to approach with caution and the captain could miss out this weekend, with the aim to be back up and running on Boxing Day.

“He's a wonderful player and talisman for us. But that's why the precaution is there. If we take him out for one game it's to save him for the remainder,” Moore said.

George Byers has trained in full with the squad this week and is in contention to feature.

Dennis Adeniran and Akin Famewo are also options for the game.

Oxford: Yanic Wildschut and Josh Murphy are pushing for a return to the side after recovering from injury.

Midfielder Alex Gorrin (knee) has been ruled out for the season, while strike duo Kyle Joseph and Sam Baldock are expected back in the New Year.
