I want to make a difference here

20 January 2022

New loan recruit Jordan Storey says he is raring to go and ready to meet his latest challenge head on at Hillsborough.

The central defender – on loan from Preston until the end of the season – became the first addition of the January transfer window to our squad.

The 24-year-old has made 20 appearances for the Lilywhites this season and now bolsters the Owls’ defensive ranks ahead of our trip to Oxford on Saturday.

As Wednesday look to push on from an impressive victory and performance over Plymouth last weekend, Storey is keen to hit the ground running and revealed the ambitions of boss Darren Moore were a big factor.

“I’m delighted to be here,” he told swfc.co.uk. “This is a massive club with big ambitions to get back into the Championship and I’m looking forward to getting going.

“I’ve spoken to the gaffer who has told me the plans and how I will fit in, we’ve had really good conversations and I am raring to go.

“I like his ideas, his enthusiasm and what he wants from me and for the club to achieve in the coming months. That sold it to me.”

Wednesday head into the weekend round of fixtures three points below Oxford, who occupy sixth spot.

With everything to play for in the second half of the campaign, Storey continued:

“This is a really good challenge and if I can come in and make a difference that would be great.

“I want to hit the ground running and be ready for Oxford this weekend.

“I know the boys got a really good result last weekend against Plymouth and we need to keep that up and I’d be delighted if I can add to that.”
