The Owls academy have progressed through to the next stage of the Clarets Cup as winners of Group A following a 2-1 victory over Bradford City at Thorncliffe earlier this week.
To finish top of the pile, Wednesday required only a draw from the clash with Bradford on Tuesday, who went into the game one point behind the Owls in second spot.
Goals from Danai Sterling-Rhule and Mario Bobea sealed the Owls’ safe passage to the next stage, in a game that also saw goalkeeper Pierce Charles twice save from the penalty spot in the first half, with the officials ordering a re-take of the first.
Our opposition in the first of the knockout rounds will be determined in due course.
The Clarets Cup is a competition founded by Burnley for Under-17 players and our results from Group A were as follows;
Blackburn 1-1 Owls
Owls 5-1 Salford
