New recruits for Under-23s

24 June 2022

Academy products Fuad Sesay and Josh Ashman have signed their maiden professional contracts with Sheffield Wednesday.

The duo enjoyed a successful two-year scholarship programme with the Owls and were offered professional terms upon the conclusion of the 2021/22 campaign.

Both Sesay and Ashman will step up to the SWFC Under-23 squad for the upcoming season under the tutelage of experienced coach Neil Thompson.

Towering centre back Ashman, 18, has been with the Owls since the age of 14, while Sesay, also 18, joined Wednesday from Southampton two years ago to begin his scholarship at Hillsborough.

Meanwhile, Sam Durrant and Bobby Dunn will also join our Under-23 squad.

The promising duo spent time on trial in S6 last season and have impressed the coaching staff at Middlewood Road.

Durrant, a former Liverpool schoolboy and most recently with Blackburn, is noted for his creative attacking play.

The 20-year-old scored a stunning goal for the Owls while on trial in our clash with Millwall at The Den back in May.

Dunn rose through the academy ranks at Charlton and has spent valuable time plying his trade in the Isthmian League with Ramsgate FC.

The highly rated 18-year-old central midfielder will link up with our 23s squad for the new campaign.

Good luck, boys!
