The Owls enter into back-to-back home against Cheltenham and Wimbledon – here are some talking points from the Robins’ pre-match media conference held on Friday afternoon.
ON JOSH WINDASS
Josh has had a setback so we will be making an assessment of him over the next couple of days. It’s too early to say how much of a setback he’s had, so we will see what the situation is. He had the bit between his teeth, wanting to get back and be part of it. He just wants to play and wants to contribute and he’s obviously frustrated.
FACING A LOW BLOCK
When teams are playing a low block it can be harder because the opposition is defending only 30 yards from their goal line. That’s when we have to be patient and it’s about taking those opportunities when they come and it’s a responsibility for everyone in the team.
When chances come they have to let go and get shots at goal and bodies in the box. It’s a compliment really when teams have played like that against us because they know what we are capable of.
300 UP FOR BARRY BANNAN
It's an exceptional achievement in the modern game. I’m really pleased for Baz to reach that accolade for the club, it’s very rare in football today. We want him to keep going, he’s having a great season and you can see that from the contribution he has given to the team. Special credit to him and long may it continue.
ON CHELTENHAM
There’s been clear progression at the club and they’ve secured their status in League One. Credit to Michael Duff on how he sets his team up, they play football in the right way.
Their league position shows the progression they’ve made. They get the ball down and like to play football, I’m sure they will come to Hillsborough looking forward to the game.
ON MIDE SHODIPO
Mide is back now, we’d like to give him another seven days of training and from there he will be another option for us. A great attacking option for us. He’s had this week to train and we may try and put him in an in-house game. Mide will be great to have back as he’s another left-footer which provides more balance to the squad.
ON BAILEY PEACOCK-FARRELL
I spoke with Ian Baraclough earlier in the week and it’s great that we have Bailey available for the game. I’m grateful it comes at a time when Northern Ireland are trying out different things and it will give another goalkeeper an opportunity.
Ian and Northern Ireland know exactly what Bailey is capable of and he will link up with the squad next week.
