A team of Sheffield Wednesday Legends take on Czech Republic Legends at Hillsborough this weekend to raise funds for two charities!

The friendly fixture has been arranged by the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme with help from former Owls full back and Czech international Daniel Pudil.

Funds raised from the event will aid Weston Park Cancer Charity in Sheffield and Real Top Praha in Pudil’s homeland.

The Czech charity are supporting two-year old Simon, who is battling Lesch-Nyhan syndrome, a kidney-neurological disease affecting psychomotor development, causing organ failure, and leading the sufferer to commit self-harm.

Donations will help Simon receive the treatment he needs to prevent symptoms of the disease developing.

Weston Park Cancer Charity help thousands of people every year in the fight against cancer, conducting research, providing treatment, care and support for those with the illness and their families.

TICKETS

Supporters can purchase tickets for the 1:30pm kick-off online HERE, or pay on the day in S6. Tickets are priced £6 for adults and £3 concessions.

If you are unable to attend the game but would like to make a donation towards the charity match, you can do so via this link on our Community Programme website.

Turnstiles/kiosks open at 12 noon until kick-off at 1:30pm
The 1867 Loungue is open from 12 noon until 5:00pm

The South Stand only is open inside the stadium.

Turnstiles 35/36 cash only
Fans with vouchers – Exit Door 11 – must produce QR code
Disabled supporters can access the stadium via the Lower West Stand – Gate 7

There will be a whole host of familiar faces to the line-up of both sides this weekend!

For the Owls, in no particular order, the likes of David Lucas, Lee Bullen, Glenn Loovens, Miguel Llera, Graham Coughlan, Ross Wallace, Guy Branston, Lewis Buxton, Reda Johnson, Benito Carbone, Des Walker, JP McGovern, Paul Pashley, Dalton Smith and potentially more!

For the Czech Republic we’ll be hosting the likes of Jan Koller, Tomas Ujfalusi, Karel Rada, David Lafata, Roman Bednar, Marek Heinz, Zdenek Zlamal, Lukas Zelenka, Marek Pinc, Ondrej Pavelec and of course Pudil himself.

EVENING WITH THE LEGENDS

Tonight, Friday 13 May, we will also host ‘An Evening with the Legends’ in the 1867 Lounge – this event is now sold out.

Presented by BBC Radio Sheffield’s Rob Staton, the first event of the weekend will take in a Q&A with the players, pie and peas supper, photo opportunities, unique prize auction, a magician and more!

Darren Hayes, Head of Fundraising at Weston Park, added: “We’re honoured that the legends football match will raise funds for the one in two people who will be diagnosed with cancer.

"The money raised will ensure that we can be there, at every step, for people facing cancer by enabling vital research, providing support and enhancing treatment.”
