Sean Fusire was the matchwinner for Wednesday as the Under-18s triumphed over Derby to reach the third round of the FA Youth Cup.
The pacey forward struck with eight minutes to go after the Owls had hit the woodwork no less than three times.
Fusire said coach Andy Holdsworth played his part as the team’s patience finally paid off at Hillsborough.
He said: “Andy spoke to us at half time and said don’t get frustrated, it will come, keep your heads up and that’s what happened.
“You do have that thing in the back of your mind that if you miss your chances you can get punished later in the game but we kept our composure and got the reward with the goal.
“It was a fantastic moment and now we look forward to another game at Hillsborough against Barnsley in the next round.”
