Joey Phuthi’s goal against Wigan Athletic last month has been shortlisted for a League Football Education (LFE) award!
The attacking full back unleashed a stunning first half strike against the Latics in October to settle a close-fought contest at Middlewood Road.
Wednesday ran out 1-0 winners courtesy of Phuthi’s powerful drive.
From an Owls free kick, the ball came out to the 17-year-old, who took a touch inside onto his right foot and picked out the far corner past the outstretched arms of the keeper.
It’s one of ten strikes on the shortlist and you can vote for Joey by CLICKING HERE and selecting option F!
Phuthi was also heavily involved on Saturday as the Under-18s progressed in the FA Youth Cup past Burton at Hillsborough.
Using his pace down the right flank, Phuthi broke free and played a neat cutback for Bailey Cadamarteri to fire home the leveller, with Wednesday of course going on to win on penalties.
