U18s: Coventry 2-2 Owls

26 November 2022

The Owls Under-18s and Coventry shared the spoils on Saturday morning at the Alan Higgs Centre.

Following a goalless first half, Callum Perry gave the home side a lead from the penalty spot.

But quickfire goals from Wednesday turned the game on its head.

Joey Phuthi made a surging run upfield and forced a save from goalkeeper Daniel Rachel but Carlos Rodrigues was on hand to slot the rebound home.

Rodrigues was then involved moments later as the visitors went ahead.

After displaying neat skill and with quick feet out on the left, the wideman fizzed the ball across the face of goal where unfortunate Sky Blues defender Shay Young knocked into his own net from close range.

Coventry fought their way back into the game and levelled with just minutes left on the clock.

Charlie Manners gambled at the back post from a late corner and managed to squeeze the ball past Jack Phillips at the near post.

XI: Phillips, Bradford (Phuthi 64), Rodrigues, Weaver, Chapman (c), Tapudzai, Fusire, Thornton, Moses, Trialist (Fernandes 56), Maciag (Cadamarteri 64)
