Familiar feeling for Moore

26 October 2022

The Owls left Lincoln last weekend with a point on the board but ultimately frustrated given our dominance at the LNER Stadium.

And it was a similar feeling back at Hillsborough on Wednesday night as once more we came out on top in the possession stats and chances created but honours were even in terms of the result.

Bristol Rovers earned a share of the spoils after Josh Coburn cancelled out Michael Smith’s opener.

Darren Moore told “It was just like watching the Lincoln game for me tonight. We were on the front foot, we created chances, we took the lead, bossed the ball but then let them back into the game.

“So yes, it’s a feeling of frustration because again I look at it as two points dropped. We had enough chances to win the game, that’s 38 chances over the course of the last two games.

“We will be in tomorrow and Friday and the emphasis will be on crossing and shooting. We will go back to basics because sometimes you can snatch at chances and that leads to frustration in the danger areas.

“But I have complete trust in the players and they have complete trust in themselves. I know we can and will score goals.”

Meanwhile, at the other end of the field, Moore said he will soon be in a position to issue a full update on Ben Heneghan, who limped off at Lincoln on Saturday.

He explained: “We will have a full report on Ben back tomorrow and I will be able to let the fans and the media know exactly where we are with Ben.

“He will be missing on Saturday and so will Michael Ihiekwe through suspension.”
