Owls boss looks ahead to final PJT outing

17 October 2022

The Owls are set to mix things up on Tuesday evening for the final group fixture in the Papa Johns Trophy.

Qualification to the knockout stage of the competition is now beyond Wednesday after defeats in the group to Burton and Bradford.

Leicester City Under-21s come to S6 for the final tie on Tuesday night and manager Darren Moore plans to mix things up in terms of team selection with an eye on giving vital minutes to returning players.

“We put in a strong performance on Saturday, got the three points and now we move on to Tuesday’s cup game,” the gaffer said.

“We will look at the shape of the team, it’s a chance to give one or two some minutes on the pitch and it’s at home which is great.

“We’ll get minutes in the players’ legs, there are a lot of games coming up and we’ll need the squad, so what it does is allows me to give one or two some real good matchday minutes.

“That will get players ready for future games in the league.”

In terms of personnel available, Moore is hopeful Mallik Wilks, Jack Hunt and Dominic Iorfa can return to the squad.

He continued: “Hopefully all three, Mallik, Jack and Dom, will be alright. We’ll have a look at Tuesday, and if not then hopefully for the weekend.

“They’re just soreness really and we'd like them to get some minutes on Tuesday.”
