Alex Hunt signs for Grimsby

1 September 2022

Alex Hunt has joined League Two side Grimsby Town on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.

The midfielder links up with the Mariners once more having previously enjoyed a successful loan spell at Blundell Park.

Hunt rose through the academy ranks with Wednesday and penned his maiden professional contract in February 2018.

The Sheffielder made his first team debut in the Carabao Cup against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light the following August.

In March 2020, Hunt posted his first senior appearance at Hillsborough against Premier League giants Manchester City in the FA Cup.

The 22-year-old signed for Grimsby on loan in August 2021 and went on to make 17 appearances before joining League Two Oldham Athletic in January 2022, playing a further 13 games.

He made 17 appearances for Wednesday in total across all competitions and we thank Hunt for his services, wishing him all the best for the future.
