Young goalkeeper Pierce Charles has returned to S6 having enjoyed a training camp with the senior Northern Ireland squad.
The 17-year-old shot-stopper was invited by Northern Ireland to join their first team squad on Sunday 18 September ahead of two Nations League games.
Ian Baraclough’s side beat Kosovo 2-1 last Saturday before going down 3-1 to Greece on Tuesday.
Charles has represented Northern Ireland Under-17s and Under-19s in recent months and was involved in training to support the country’s senior goalkeepers.
The Wednesday keeper said: “It was a really good experience!
“It was a surprise, it wasn’t what I was expecting when I got the call! When I found out, I told my brother Shea because he was going as well and we were both really happy.
“It’s a good motivator, if you’re getting called up to the senior team you know you’re doing something right, so you have to keep going.
“I joined in with the small-sided games and the shooting when the senior goalkeepers weren’t involved.
“The manager just said that I was brought in because they can see potential in me and obviously it’s a good experience for me.
“I want to kick on now and keep going.”
Northern Ireland number one Bailey Peacock-Farrell was a familiar face for the youngster after the duo worked together regularly at Hillsborough last season, and the pair were pleased to see each other.
He added: “It was good knowing I knew Bailey already, I wasn’t as nervous going into it and Bailey took me in well and welcomed me to the group.”
Charles has been a regular fixture for the Owls Under-21s this campaign and has joined in with Darren Moore’s first team in training.
Welcome back, Pierce!
