Dust ourselves down and back to work

8 September 2022

The Owls are back on the road this weekend at Plymouth and all focus is on bouncing back from defeat last weekend.

Darren Moore’s side have been in excellent form at the start of the season.

So much so, the gaffer and Liam Palmer are amongst the August nominees for the League One Manager and Player of the Month awards, respectively.

Wednesday suffered a bump in the road last weekend with a below par performance against Barnsley at Hillsborough.

But with a sell-out following of over 1,600 Wednesdayites heading to Home Park, the gaffer wants to see the right response from the team this weekend.

“When I look back at the previous week, we had three games, scored 10 goals and conceded none,” Moore said.

“We felt we had been getting the right type of performances and improvement as the weeks had been going but last week, it was like we stood still.

“Our build-up play was a little slow, mundane, so we’ve got back, analysed it and dusted ourselves down. Sometimes you have to be honest and we weren’t good enough last week.

“But we’re back to work and we are redressing those issues to make sure they don’t happen again.”
Ahead of our longest trip of the campaign, the boss continued:

“It’s going to be a real tough game. There are many different things you have got to manage down there.

"We are going to take a lot of fans and I'm really looking forward to the game.

"We had two tough games there in the league and cup last season so we know the environment and what to expect."
