MATCH DETAILS
Morecambe v Wednesday
Tuesday 13 September
7:45pm
League One
Mazuma Stadium

The EFL resume its fixture schedule this week.

All games over the weekend were postponed as a mark of respect to the passing of HRH Queen Elizabeth II.

It was confirmed by the EFL on Monday morning that midweek fixtures will go ahead and for the Owls, that means a trip to the Mazuma Stadium to face Morecambe.

The Shrimps head into Tuesday’s clash still searching for their first league win of the season.

Morecambe sit 23rd in the division, albeit in the early throes of the campaign.

On home soil, Derek Adams’ side have drawn two of their three outings so far (v Shrewsbury 0-0, and v Fleetwood 1-1), and have one defeat on their record against MK Dons (0-4).

The Owls will be aiming to bounce back from defeat against Barnsley at Hillsborough last time out.

TEAM NEWS

Wednesday: Ben Heneghan could come back into contention for the Owls after making good progress from injury.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru will also be pushing for a recall after a minor hamstring strain.

The likes of Michael Smith, Alex Mighten and Mallik Wilks will all be vying to make their first starts for the club in league competition.

Morecambe: Plenty of transfer speculation surrounded Cole Stockton this summer but as the window slammed shut earlier this month, the striker remained with the Shrimps.

Stockton scored 26 times in 50 appearances across all competitions last season but is yet to get off the mark in 2022/23 and has missed the club’s last four fixtures.

There could also be a familiar face against the Owls on Tuesday night with midfielder Liam Shaw having joined the club on loan from Celtic.

The 21-year-old left Wednesday in June 2021 to head north of the border.

HER LATE MAJESTY, QUEEN ELIZABETH II

A minute’s silence will be held before the game, with black armbands to be worn, flags flying at half-mast and the National Anthem to be played.
