Liam Palmer has won the League One Player of the Month award for August!
The Owls defender hit the ground running from the start of the 2022/23 campaign with several top performances in the season’s opening month.
The 30-year-old has also chipped in with two goals so far this campaign, notching strikes against Bolton and Forest Green, whilst reaching the milestone of 350 senior appearances for the Owls.
Palmer has contributed to five clean sheets in all competitions as Wednesday charged into round three of the Carabao Cup and sit fourth in League One.
Palmer said: “I’m really pleased and didn’t expect it at all.
“There have been a lot of great nominees so it’s really nice to win.
“It’s nice to win an individual award, all I want to do is work hard for the fans and the team.”
Owls boss Darren Moore added: “I’m really pleased that Liam has won, and deservedly so.
“He’s had a fantastic start to the season and to be recognised shows the wonderful work he’s done.
“He’s put a lot of hard work in and he’s really playing some good football at the moment.
“Normally it’s your attackers and forward players that get the awards, so for a defender to get it shows where Liam is at.
“He’s scored a couple of goals, and in terms of defending and attacking this season he’s made a brilliant start and long may that continue with him.”
