THE MATCH

It’s a vital fixture for Wednesday as we approach the climax of the campaign. Four teams are in the automatic promotion hunt and Exeter present the next challenge to the Owls, who are vying with Plymouth, Ipswich and Barnsley at the summit.

Gary Caldwell’s side arrive in S6 on an indifferent run of form spawning four successive defeats but are set for a comfortable mid-table finish.

TEAM NEWS

Wednesday: Michael Ihiekwe came through the Under-21s’ game in midweek against Burnley unscathed and will be included in Darren Moore’s squad this weekend.

Akin Famewo, who limped out of the Owls’ win at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday, is also set to be in contention.

Exeter: The Grecians have injury concerns ahead of the Hillsborough clash. Manager Gary Caldwell was without regular strikers Sam Nombe and Jay Stansfield for the midweek defeat to Derby, while midfielder Kevin McDonald and wideman Demetri Mitchell also missed out.

Caldwell has further doubts over defender Pierce Sweeney and forward James Scott, saying: “I think the players have given so much that their bodies are starting to creak a little bit.

“They are not big injuries, but they are injuries that will see them out for the odd game and that takes its toll on the squad.”
