Bannan in top 20 all-time Owls appearance makers

9 August 2023

Barry Bannan has moved into the Owls’ top 20 all-time appearance makers following Tuesday evening’s victory over Stockport in the Carabao Cup.

Wednesday beat the Hatters on penalties at Hillsborough, and by taking to the field Bannan secured his name amongst the greats in S6.

The Scot has racked up 359 appearances since joining the Owls in August 2015 on a free transfer from Crystal Palace.

Just 19 players have featured more in blue and white, with Bannan on the same number of games as fellow icon Peter Shirtliff.

The 33-year-old made his Owls debut against Burnley on 12 September 2015 and has played a key role in the heart of our midfield since.

He was given the captain’s armband ahead of the 2020/21 campaign and led Wednesday to promotion last season.

Congratulations, Baz! Here’s to many more!
