THE MATCH

The Owls are on the road for the time this season back in the Championship.

Making the short trip to East Yorkshire where we face Hull, Xisco’s Wednesday side are looking for their first league win of the campaign.

Having slipped to a 2-1 loss at home to Southampton on the opening day, the Owls progressed in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night after putting on a late show against Stockport.

Tyreeq Bakinson’s last-gasp leveller sent the first round tie to penalties where Wednesday ultimately prevailed.

For the Tigers, the season has begun with two defeats from two.

A narrow 2-1 reverse away at Norwich preceded a loss at Doncaster in the Carabao Cup by the same scoreline.

It will be our first meeting with the Tigers since January 2020.

TEAM NEWS

Wednesday: Xisco has plenty of options available for the Yorkshire derby.

After making eight changes for the Stockport cup clash, the Owls boss has much to ponder ahead of the weekend.

Devis Vasquez, Di’Shon Bernard, Bambo Diaby and Pol Valentin all made their debuts and are in contention.

Momo Diaby is the latest recruit to join the squad after completing his season-long loan from Portimonense SC.

Michael Smith missed out against Stockport with illness but should be back available this weekend.

Mallik Wilks (muscle injury) will be assessed ahead of the clash with his former club.

Hull: Ruben Vinagre (thigh) and Harry Vaughan (ankle) face fitness tests ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Owls.

Allahyar Sayyadmanesh, Greg Docherty and Dogukan Sinik are all sidelined.

LOVE FOOTBALL, PROTECT THE GAME

The EFL, Premier League, FA, FSA, PGMOL, LMA and PFA have come together to announce a series of measures to address behaviour across the game.

This includes new policies, procedures, and regulations to come into force from the start of the 2023/24 season to address unacceptable conduct on the pitch, on the sidelines and in the stands.

The new measures build on the work launched last season to combat dangerous and illegal fan behaviour, supported by the ‘Love Football. Protect the Game’ football-wide campaign.

We are also reinforcing the importance of all supporters staying within EFL Ground Regulations, which can be found HERE.
