Hillsborough
THE MATCH
Wednesday make a quickfire return to Hillsborough following Friday’s Championship curtain-raiser at home to Southampton.
Bidding for a place in the second round of the Carabao Cup, the Owls host League Two side Stockport.
Last season’s play-off finalists slipped to a 1-0 home defeat to Gillingham on the opening day.
Wednesday and Stockport last met in this competition back in 2005, when goals from Lee Peacock, Richie Partridge and Adam Proudlock (2) sealed a 4-2 Owls win after extra time.
TEAM NEWS
Wednesday: Xisco could make changes this evening with the game coming so soon after the Saints clash.
The likes of Devis Vasquez, Pol Valentin and Di’Shon Bernard are in contention.
Ashley Fletcher and Anthony Musaba made appearances from the bench on Friday and will be pushing for a starting spot.
Bambo Diaby is available to feature after serving a suspension carried over from last season.
Stockport: Key midfielder Will Collar is set to start tonight at Hillsborough.
The 26-year-old missed out through injury in the Gillingham defeat but manager Dave Challinor has said in the build-up that Collar – who scored 13 goals from the engine room last season - will start the game.
Ex-Owls Ryan Croasdale is a doubt with a hip injury.
PENALTIES
In the event of a draw after 90 minutes, the tie will go straight to penalties.

LOVE FOOTBALL, PROTECT THE GAME
The EFL, Premier League, FA, FSA, PGMOL, LMA and PFA have come together to announce a series of measures to address behaviour across the game.
This includes new policies, procedures, and regulations to come into force from the start of the 2023/24 season to address unacceptable conduct on the pitch, on the sidelines and in the stands.
The new measures build on the work launched last season to combat dangerous and illegal fan behaviour, supported by the ‘Love Football. Protect the Game’ football-wide campaign.
