Match Pack: Cardiff v Wednesday

25 August 2023

Cardiff City v Wednesday
Saturday 26 August
Sky Bet Championship
Cardiff City Stadium

The Owls are back on the road this weekend, facing Cardiff in South Wales.

Xisco’s side are out to put our first points of the season on the board at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The Bluebirds were off the mark with a point at Leeds on the opening day but have since lost to QPR and Leicester, both by the odd goal in three.

Like Wednesday, though, Cardiff did progress to the second round of the Carabao Cup, beating Colchester on penalties.

Wednesday: Xisco suffered a blow last time out when Momo Diaby limped out of the Hillsborough clash. The midfield new recruit will likely miss out on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Mallik Wilks is nearing a return to contention with injury having impacted his start to the Championship campaign.

Cardiff: Erol Bulut has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the Owls contest.

Watch Xisco's pre-match press conference, streamed live on our YouTube channel on Thursday lunchtime.

Cardiff v Wednesday is an all-ticket game, with no pay on the day facility.

Wednesdayites are advised not to travel unless in possession of a valid matchday ticket.

Referee - Darren Bond
Assistants - Richard West and Edward Smart
Fourth Official - Sunny Singh Gill

Great Western Railway will be running an extremely limited service. There will be a reduced operating window; services will start at 7:00am and must be completed by around 6:30pm.

Transport for Wales services are likely be impacted by strike action at other train operating companies. This could result in short notice cancellations and changes.

The EFL, Premier League, FA, FSA, PGMOL, LMA and PFA have come together this season to implement a series of measures to address behaviour across the game.

This includes new policies, procedures, and regulations to eradicate unacceptable conduct on the pitch, on the sidelines and in the stands.

The new measures build on the work launched last season to combat dangerous and illegal fan behaviour, supported by the ‘Love Football. Protect the Game’ football-wide campaign.
