U21s: Owls 2-2 Millwall

15 August 2023

The Owls Under-21s posted a point from their opening game of the season against Millwall on Tuesday afternoon at Middlewood Road.

Bailey Cadamarteri struck both goals for Wednesday in the second half.

Millwall led at the break courtesy of Abdul Abdulmalik’s fierce hit from 20 yards high into the net.

A well-worked move after the break saw Wednesday level the game as Jay Glover picked out the unmarked Cadamarteri in the box, who spun and struck powerfully past Ethan Wady.

Henry Hearn capitalised on a lapse of concentration at the back from the Owls on 81 minutes to restore Millwall’s advantage.

It was harsh on Wednesday, who had performed well against last season’s Under-21 South League winners, but right at the last, the hosts grabbed a deserved leveller from the penalty spot, converted by Cadamarteri.

XI: Charles, Siqueira, Maltby, Adetoro (Flannery 75), Reed, Shipston (Moses 80), Glover, Buchan (Cook 70), Fusire (c), Onukwuli, Cadamarteri
