Yesterday saw the return of our biggest community day in the calendar – Blue and White Christmas Day.
The day has grown and grown over the years to become one of our most valuable trips into the community.
With months of planning, gift gathering and working alongside local charities, the day was another huge success!
Split up into six different groups, manager Danny Röhl, his coaches, players and club staff headed to The Royal Society of the Blind’s Cairn Home, Children’s Hospital, Weston Park Cancer Charity, St Luke’s Hospice, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and the Becton Centre for Children and Young People.
All visits took place after a morning on the training ground as we prepare for the games to come thick and fast over the festive period!
Here’s a little more info on where we went!
Sheffield Children’s Hospital - A world-leading facility dedicated to healthcare for children under 18
Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice - A dedicated palliative care facility for children, supporting children with terminal illnesses and their families. This was also our first visit back here since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sheffield Children’s Hospital Becton Centre - An arm of the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and state-of-the-art centre dedicated to children with mental health issues.
Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind’s Cairn Home - Dedicated to improving the lives of people with sight and hearing loss in Sheffield and Rotherham. This was the first time we have visited SRSB’s Cairn Home care home to meet with staff and residents.
Weston Park Cancer Charity - Dedicated to aiding people with cancer, helping those with the disease with world-leading healthcare and support for their families.
St Luke’s Hospice - Caring for people aged 18 and above throughout Sheffield who have terminal illnesses. Helping to control symptoms, alleviate pain, and give them the best possible quality of life.
We would like to thank everyone who played their part in another memorable occasion this year and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas
