Keep doing what I’m doing

4 December 2023

Prolific for the Under-21s this season and now off the mark for the senior team too.

What a week for young Owls striker Bailey Cadamarteri.

The 18-year-old was handed his second start for the club on Saturday as Wednesday hosted Blackburn and the striker rippled the back of the net after just five minutes.

A quick Josh Windass burst down the left followed by a low ball into the box was perfectly anticipated by Cadamarteri and the rest was history.

He told swfc.co.uk: “To get my first goal was an amazing feeling and the lads dug deep and did really well.

“Even when we went to 1-1, we worked hard and managed to get the three points against a good side.”

Explaining the goal, he said: “I saw Josh running down and I knew he was going to beat his man and that if I got in that area, the ball would come and then it was just about getting a good connection.

“I just want to keep adding to it but that feeling is indescribable really, running off and celebrating in front of the fans at Hillsborough is something you dream of.

“I’ve had a lot of support, this is definitely a good group of lads. They have been supportive and welcoming and I think that showed by all the celebrations that went on.

“I just need to keep doing what I’m doing and, as a striker, keep scoring goals and try to keep myself in the team.

“I really wanted the win on Saturday, it also makes the goal an even better feeling. I’ve got my first goal and now it’s time to kick on and get two, three, four and five.”
